The Financial World is abuzz about some preliminary preliminational talks between Microsoft and Yahoo.  It's all court and woo towards Bill laying down the big bucks to buy yet another company (cause they can't seem to 'get it' on their own?)  This is all a shark eat shark reaction to the Great White Shark in the Pond: Google.

Yahoo stock owners clearly are in love with the idea.  The Stock opened up 18 percent.  Microsoft, not so much.  Down about 1 percent.

Now if you ask yourself what does this mean to me?  Squat, really.  You'll still use Google to search and you will probably use some minor hybrid of Yahoo to Portal your news.  At least I will.  Note that I also keep it old-school in regards to the New My Yahoo.  I prefer the non-2.0 version, primarily due to load times.  I don't feel I need my headlines in Flash Fancy Form.  Although Netscape's Portal is pretty sweet and doesn't seem to have the lag issues I experienced with Yahoo's Beta.  Anyway, Google=search, Yahoo=Portal.  Got that?  Good.  MSN for ...well, not much.  MSNBC for Financial News, sure... but I have a beef with MSN... it's hotmail and it, in a word, sucks.  Specifically that Passport crap.  Everytime I have to access MSN it pushes some requirement (built way down deep in the bones of the Net) to have a passport.  Since I avoid this whenever possible, any return to Passport is always a pain, a chore, an unpleasant experience... where I have to recall up an old hotmail account, remember that old password, etc, etc... invariably causing some send me the damn password, I give up knee jerk reflex.  Bleh.  Window's Live is Passport based... Window's Dead IMHO.

I'm no expert on what ole Dollar Bill is up to.  Old tricks it appears to me. If you can't invent it, buy it.  Which, when you think about it is sort of anti-competition.  Absorbing your competition is, well, not exactly The American Way is it?  Aren't there Anti-Monopoly Laws? Or did Bill pay them off? lol, I'm Kidding!

Ok, time to toss a treat to the geeks. This is a Geeky Article, afterall.

Let's get ready to rumble.... Rock 'em/Sock 'em Style!

Behold the Fight of the Century: Microsoft vs. Google!
